Following the family tradition of engineering entrepreneurship Günther de Temple founded DEKOMTE in 1978, 90 years after the de Temple family started a company making regulators for steam engines. One of Günther de Temple's aims was to enter the market with a new and innovative product. Despite 1978 being a difficult economic year, Günther de Temple's vision was supported by the Sparkasse Seligenstadt by providing the start up funds.
After the barriers of bureaucracy had been conquered, the development of the business philosophy came to the fore: a commercial guarantee bond should not constitute the authority of DEKOMTE, but rather substantial physical and technical know-how.
The guiding philosophy of DEKOMTE was that it should be known not just for its name but for the quality of its products. This philosophy served it well and in 1980 it opened its first office in Oostende in Belgium, covering the Benelux countries. Over the years more subsidiaries opened throughout the world and the company currently employs over 300 people. DEKOMTE's name is renowned throughout the power generation industry for the high technical quality of its expansion joints.
